Nedlloyd Asia container ship, South Chinese Sea, May 1997

Floating Indonesians is a portrait of six Indonesian sailors on board the Nedlloyd Asia container ship.
Throughout the year they sail between Rotterdam and Shanghai, rarely leaving the vessel.
The photo session took place in the hull of the ship and was also recorded on video and Super-8 film.

The work consists of 81 colour slides in carrousel, variable projction dimensions, 2 colour photographs,
74 x 113 cm, super-8 film, 12 min. and  digital video on DVD, colour, sound, 33 min.
